Citizens Advice Greater Manchester welcomes new Chair - Mike Wolfe.

Citizens Advice Greater Manchester is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chair, Mike Wolfe.

With an established career with Citizens Advice spanning 45 years, Mike Wolfe brings to the role considerable skills, knowledge and vision.

With previous experience as Mayor of Stoke on Trent, and a long-standing commitment to eradicating poverty, Mike Wolfe is as quoted in The Times (2004) ‘One to Watch’.

With his passion to address inequality and social justice combined with energy, vision and an ability to translate ideas into action, Citizens Advice Greater Manchester warmly welcomes Mike Wolfe to the role.

Throughout all of Mike’s career, he has led organisational and transformational change through a commitment based on clear values and social justice.

Mike’s values are evident in his vision for Citizens Advice Greater Manchester,

“I think CAGM needs to have a much louder voice. I think unlike probably any other agency, we aren't dealing with people who are forced to come to us, we are dealing with people who choose to come to us. This gives us the privilege of helping them, and they give us an enormous amount of data which actually I think is often, not understood by policy makers.”

“I want us to have a very loud voice and keep society informed as to what life is like as we go into this likely poverty pandemic.”

As a ‘people’s politician’ Mike brings to the role, strategic and operational experience across political and non-executive positions in national and Third sector organisations. His vision for Citizens Advice Greater Manchester is for all LCA’s within the Greater Manchester footprint,

"to work together adding value to each other’s efforts utilising strong local branches to add strength and power at a Greater Manchester level

to remain connected to local communities by ensuring Citizens Advice Greater Manchester has a louder voice, and

proudly serving those who seek our help and support through difficult times."

As author of the ground breaking ‘Handbook of Debt Advice’ (1993), we look forwards to working with such an influential and transformational leader.

Rachel Howley, Director of Citizens Advice Greater Manchester said:

“I’m really excited to welcome Mike as our new Chair of CAGM and I’m looking forward to working with him.

Mike and I both share a commitment to making a difference to the lives of Greater Manchester residents at a time when our services have never been more needed.

When I began my Citizens Advice journey many years ago, as a volunteer Money Advisor I relied on my Debt Advice Handbook that was written by Mike, so it’s fantastic to have this opportunity to work together."
