Last year we helped 50,000 people in the region take charge of their finances by offering guidance and support on debt and benefits. We also helped thousands of families into secure housing, supported victims of crime, worked with people struggling to remain in or find employment and provided access to the skills and advice that will allow parents to give their children the best start in life.

By focusing on outcomes that give people the freedom and security to take control of their long-term futures we are improving health, wellbeing and productivity in communities across the city region – all of which leads to reduced demand on public services. As public services in the city region are reformed, it will be vital that people are able to navigate new services and changing systems. Citizens Advice can assess all their needs and help people to access the whole range of appropriate services, including newly created ones.

By helping people across Greater Manchester live more independent lives our advice is delivering direct saving to core services.
