Out of Hours service providing extra help for Greater Manchester residents

Citizens Advice Greater Manchester’s Out of Hours Service is here to provide much-needed support to residents of Greater Manchester who can’t access traditional services during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

The service, funded by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority offers a clear, single point of contact for vulnerable people facing crisis or emergency in Greater Manchester, offering advice on a variety of issues including debt, welfare and benefits, housing and employment.

The Helpline is available to all Greater Manchester residents to call Monday to Sunday from 7pm to 9pm on 0161 850 5053, with digital help also available through our groundbreaking new Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger integration.

The service can refer clients to our ten Greater Manchester Citizens Advice services for further advice, as well as providing access to a specialist support network of Greater Manchester agencies for advice on issues such as mental health, food banks, domestic violence, families, immigration and more.

Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, said: “The restrictions we’re facing as a result of Covid-19 has meant changing the way we work and that’s no different to our voluntary, charity and social enterprise sector whose services are needed now more than ever.

"Our £100,000 funding award to Greater Manchester Citizens Advice for their new telephone helpline service will assist those seeking advice on benefits, debt as well as evictions and I urge people to get in touch with them if they need help.”

Call on 0161 850 5053 or get Whatsapp advice.

Rachel Howley, Chief Officer of Citizens Advice Greater Manchester, said: “Citizens Advice is here to give people the knowledge and confidence they need to find their way forward in these extremely difficult times. We are delighted to be working together with the Combined Authority to ensure that as many people as possible can access advice and support when they need it most.”
